As I did some portraits with the kids for Christmas, how can I not make one for CNY. Everyone had tons of fun playing with the Ang Pows, tho I think Jamie’s gold shirt was bothering him due to the “itchiness”. Which is why he changed wardrobe midway.

The above was shot from my last shoot of 2009 with my favorite twin boys in Bangkok.  Emily & the kids joined us @ Central World for lunch after my shoot is completed. I will be posting the preview of the shoot soon!

I hope I have improved some of the navigation aspects, and of course still keep my minimalistic design in-place.There will be even more addiitions to the blog in the coming weeks as i get the hang of this new setup.

Firstly, I do think that equipments matter, but the question instead should be rephrased into, "What is your equipment setup?" That should be the right question to ask any professional, as someone who you paid to capture your once-in-a-lifetime memory. More after the link.

A professional photographer should never leave home without at least a backup of almost everything they have, from cameras & flashes, to lens, batteries and memory cards. I always carry with me 2 professional level bodies, professional series lens, duplicate focal lengths & multiple flashes. This is to ensure if anything fails, it will NOT effect you, The Customer and you shouldn't notice any issues at all. Equipments should be the least of your worries.

Another item which I think many tend to forget is duplicate memories or backups in the field. Of course, most important, there always should be more than adequate memory cards with you at all times, so there is no need for picture deletion in field. (I personally carry around 30gb+ to every event, (which comes up to about 10,000 shots) I never delete or format a card during the day; that should only be done during processing stage and after completion of all copying and backups.

Before I leave the venue, I also make a copy of all my data into a portable drive. The drive goes into the camera bag, while the memory card is kept on my body, so in case of equipment theft(touch-wood), I still have your important shoots with me.

p/s: I'm a Canon user in case anyone is wondering.And I'm also mainly a prime shooter. I'm an available light shooter, I shoot every available light is accessible to me, be it the sun, tungsten, flouresent, flash, etc.

For all those in Malaysia, wasn't the internet incredibly slow these whole week, I actually couldn't access this blog for the past couple of days. Even today its takes a few minutes to load a page. 

There will be something new coming soon for this blog. I will be starting some posts on how to improve on kids photography. I have lots of questions from friends on how to improve photos of their kids and, instead of repeating again and again, I'll just put up tips here instead.

Another item planned for the blog is a Q&A on photography. If there is any questions or help you would need some tips on, drop me an e-mail and i will compile and post them up on the blog.

But just last weekend, while lepaking in the early in the morning in a hotel, I felt just like taking photos. I realized the reason why. I missed the our bangkok apartment's large, bright, windows. I missed the easily accessible and wonderfully enveloping soft and directional light from those windows. It's very soft and still gives you a nice shadow transition, giving you a very 3D look. Nothing beats morning sun with a large window and white walls

Here's a few from that morning. He just woke up I do have some of his sleeping ones too! 

p/s: It's not impossible to achieve the same look using external lights, but there are a lot more work than just opening the curtains/shades

I buried Naomi in the sand up to her tummy, she loved it. I'm happy she is not afraid of sand anymore!

These few days have been busy packing and getting ready to be back in Malaysia. Things I would say have changed quite a bit since we left, both us and the place. It's going to be an interesting time ahead!

We came to Bangkok just 2 of us, and now we leave with an additional 3 in our family, Naomi, Jamie & jub-jub, and a whole bunch of luggage & memories and friends.

I think Naomi had the most fun here;

well at least she learned how to Sawade-kaaaa 

Too bad Jamie's too young to know much!

We will miss our lives here in Bangkok, and bid her farewell, but we will be BACK!
