The Kebaya Wedding – Meng Hwa & Celine

As promised, here are some of the selected captures from Meng Hwa & Celine's wedding reception in Holiday Inn, Melaka.

Introducing Celine, the gorgeous nyonya bride from Melaka.

Some detail shots before the tea ceremony. Below is the beautiful Kerongsang (brooch) & necklace on Celine.

Kasut Manek (Bead shoes)

Serving tea to grandma.

Just before the luncheon starts, I stole them for a few minutes to get some portraits. You can see the pre-selected ones from the earlier post.

The extremely beautiful & intricate kebaya & batik sarong.

The custom handmade manek shoes of the bride.

Their grand entrance to the hall

And of course as in any reception we have speeches made by the bride & groom, but theirs were conducted in English and Baba Malay for the family.

And how can we not have "Yum-Sengs, even if it was actually 1pm in the afternoon;)

Here's Celine with her friends.

Bride & groom with the guys.

And here's a group shot of almost every one who was in the Kebaya for the occasion.

As you can see I had tons of fun on this very special reception. It was a privilege to capture something different from the usual white western gowns (tho they are still gorgeous ;P ). It's great to see my generation & the younger ones continue the tradition, language and culture, of the blend of chinese and malay from the Straits of Malaya.
